The First Sermon
In the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, celebrated Eid Al-Ghadir. He explained its significance as a landmark in the history of the Message, being the trust that Allah has entrusted the Messenger (p.) with, knowing that Allah made it clear to him that his Message would not be perfected without it.
The Sayyed, then, explained the reasons that made Ali the chosen one, not least of them was his dedication, wisdom and courage. He, then, went on to explain that the incident of Al-Ghadir, including the Prophet's proclamation of Ali as a Caliph, is narrated by all Muslims. But although Ali was the appointed successor, when he was denied his right, he refused to resort to the option of war, in order to safeguard the unity of Islam and Muslims.
Nevertheless, he continued to remind the people of his right, and he did not stop working for the sake of establishing the right, fighting falsehood and deterring any ruler who deviates from the straight path. On the other hand, he continued to offer the caliphs good advice, when they faced complicated problems they did not know how to rule in.
Thus, the memory of Imam Ali (a.s.) concurs in our minds with the issue of unity. In this respect, we should follow the example of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) in forgoing one's own right, if this is in the best interest of the unity of Islam and Muslims.
The Sayyed also explained that unity is not our choice but our fate. It is our strongest weapon in the face of dissentions, as well as poverty and backwardness. Unity is not something we declare on occasions. It is a daily and accumulative practice.
Let us be in relation with one another the way the Messenger wanted those relations to be. He (p.) said: “The example of believers in their mutual affection and mercy is like one body. If one part feels pains, then all of it is affected by sickness and fever.”
The Second Sermon
In the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, started with Palestine, pointing out that the Zionists continue their aggressions, benefiting from the Arab and Muslim differences and the Arab revolutions. Nevertheless, the Arab League does not hold any meeting to discuss the issue, although it keeps its meetings open for other issues that have to do with the internal situation in the Arab countries. Although resolving such problems is important, the Palestinian cause should remain in the forefront, for the loss of Palestine is catastrophic at the level of the entire nation.
The Sayyed believes that Syria is still bleeding as the West and America, in particular, seeks to destabilize the country to prevent it from facing the Zionists and the arrogant challenges. The Sayyed called for a serious internal dialogue that secures the people's demands, on the one hand, and Syria's policy of defying the arrogant schemes on the other.
In Bahrain, the Sayyed said that he had previously wished that the authorities replace the language of violence by that of dialogue and he still does, for this is the only way to solve the problem in Bahrain.
As for the latest threats that targeted the Islamic Republic of Iran, be they Zionist, European or American, the Sayyed saw that they constitute a new attempt to benefit from the state of instability that the nation is going through, in order to exert pressures on this state that boldly confronts the arrogant regional policies and supports all forces of resistance.
The Sayyed called on all the Muslim and Arab peoples to be aware of this fact and not to fall prey to the sectarian seditions. They should know that the power of Iran is a power for all the Arabs and Muslims and that Iran will never be a problem to its neighbors or fellow Muslims. The Arabs should also know that allowing the targeting of one Muslim country will facilitate the possibility of targeting the others.
As for Lebanon that is living between the international pressures that demand it to observe its international "commitments", on the one hand, and its economic crisis, on the other, the Lebanese government should open a new page with the workers and employees by being fair to them and raising their salaries.
On the other hand, they should not keep the country waiting for regional changes, for they may be drastic on the country's future.
